Memorial covers

Every memorial cover, in one place

This is the whole collection in one place. If you lost a dog or a cat there is a page written for that animal, with covers made to suit them. If yours was a rabbit, a horse, a bird or something no list anticipated, every cover here can be made for them instead.

How it works

Three steps to the cover

  1. Choose a cover

A quiet design that keeps the focus on their face.

  2. Add their story

Their photo, their name, their years and the lines you want to keep.

  3. Choose how to keep it

A memorial frame, a canvas, a print or the digital file.

Before you start

Make it sound like them

  • Which page you actually want

If you know the species, use its page: the covers there are chosen for that animal and the writing advice fits it. Use this page instead when the animal was something else, when you want to see all of the covers at once before deciding, or when you are making it for someone else and you are not certain which pet they would choose.

  • More than one animal

Two pets can share a cover, and often should when they came as a pair or went within a year of each other. Use a photo with both in it, or a photo of one and name them both in the lines. A cover for each also works, and hung together they read as a set.

  • There is no right time

Some people make this within a day of the loss, when having something to do helps. Others come back months later, once a photo has stopped being unbearable to look at. Neither is early and neither is late. The editor keeps nothing, so starting one and closing the tab costs you nothing at all.

FAQ

Pet memorial gifts: your questions

Yes. Every line on a cover is yours to write, so nothing assumes a species. Pick a cover whose layout suits the photo you have, then change the words. Rabbits, horses, birds, reptiles and small animals all turn out well.

Either reaches the same covers and the same editor. The dog and cat pages narrow the collection to the covers made for that animal, which is usually faster. Stay here if the animal was something else, or if you would rather look through everything first.

They can. A photo with both of them works best, and both names fit on the cover lines. If you only have separate photos, most people make one cover each and hang them as a pair.

Start from the photo rather than the cover. Find one they have already posted or sent you, since that is a picture they have chosen to look at, then build the cover around it and ship it to their address at checkout.

No. Years alone are what most people put, and a single year reads fine when you are not sure of the first one. An adoption year works in place of a birth year, and plenty of covers carry no dates at all.
