How do I figure out if my photo is of good quality for the magazine cover?

Digital photos should be at least 2 megapixels (1024 x 1280 pixels). To find the size of your photo: In WINDOWS. Right-click on the picture, select Properties, then look under 'Summary' for the height & width in pixels. On MACINTOSH. Click the picture and 'Get Info' (Command-I). Click 'More info' and look under 'Dimensions' for the height & width in pixels.

How do I scan a photo to use for my gift?

You can scan the photo at home if you have the proper equipment or you can bring it to your local photo shop or stores such as Kinko’s, Wal-Mart, Target or Wal-Greens that offer scanning services. Be sure to scan the photo at a minimum dpi of 300, anything lower will produce an image that is out of focus and grainy.

How do I upload photos to customize my magazine cover?

Vertical pictures will fit more naturally as covers, but remember that you can crop (cut part of a picture away) a horizontal picture so that what's left fits.
Digital photos should be at least 2 megapixels (1024x1280pixels). The higher the pixel count, the clearer your picture will be when it is printed.
Standard prints should be scanned at 300dpi.
You will be able to adjust the size and location of the photo on YourCover.
Make sure you pick a picture that is in focus and not too dark or too light.

How do I crop a photo for a magazine cover?

If you see any white around your photo, you need to crop it.
Use your mouse to select the area you want to use for YourCover.
Click and hold your mouse then drag the cursor from the top left to the bottom right corner of the area you want to select.
Not centered properly? Click and hold your mouse on the outer edge of the box you’ve created to move it to a better position.
Use the rotate buttons if your photo is upside down or sideways.
To start over, click “Clear Selection” or click anywhere outside of your image box.
Click on “Save & Continue” to move to the Template selection. You can always come back to re-crop if the photo is still not quite right.
Use a white band of space at the top of your photo as a natural magazine title border.

Ordering a Magazine Cover

Can I stop working on my personalized photo magazine cover and come back later?

Yes you can. Just be sure to click “Update” and then click “Save & Logout”. All your work will be saved for when you log in later.

Why does YourCover need my email address to log into my account?

This is a unique way to identify your account and to enable you to log in and out of our site with ease. You will not be bombarded by emails but we may contact you to remind you to finish a incomplete project. We will not sell or give your email address to third parties for any commercial purpose.

How do I use the text guidance system to customize the magazine cover?

Click on the text box you wish to revise. Click on the drop down list, Suggested Text About, Choose a topic from Select Topic and a pop up box with a list of suggestions will appear. Click on the desired suggestion and it will fill into the text area. Make any changes (for example: name, font, color, size) and click “Update”. Your text will now appear on your magazine cover.

When I make a magazine cover, why do I have to turn off my pop-up blocker?

Almost all of the directions, tips and hints are placed in pop-ups. If you do not turn it off or add www.YourCover.com to your allowable sites list, then you will not be able to use the text guidance system or view any of the hints and tips.You might have more than one type of popup blocker. Check your virus protection software, your operating system software and your internet software (for example if you use the toolbars from Google, AOL or Yahoo, check for their pop-up blockers as well).

How long does it take to get a YourCover delivered?

Our free Federal Express Ground shipment service will deliver your order within another 1-5 days. Your issue will be printed on both sides and completely to the edges of 8 ½” x 11” heavy weight, glossy paper. The paper is similar in feel and weight to the kind you would find on many popular magazines.
